FAQs

Please Note: We are open from 29th March – 30th September 2024.

What is the Volk’s Electric Railway?

The Volk’s Electric Railway is the oldest working electric railway in the world. We provide a heritage train service along our one-mile-long seafront line.

Where does it go to?

We operate from Aquarium Station to Black Rock Station (a five-minute walk from Brighton Marina). We also have a station midway called Halfway Station. Halfway Station is the stop for the Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf and Café. It is also only a short walk to Sea Lanes and the National Open Water Swimming Centre.

How long does a journey take

A single journey from for the entire length of the line takes approximately 12-minutes (from either end to Halfway Station takes about four minutes). If you wish to do a full round-trip, allow yourself half an hour.

Can I split my journey?

Yes. You can get off at our Halfway Station and then board the train later to continue to Black Rock Station. You are also welcome to leave the train at Black Rock or Aquarium station and return on a later train.

Are dogs allowed onboard?

Yes! We love dogs. We do ask that you keep them on a lead though.

Can we take food and drink on board?

As long as you’re tidy and don’t leave any food or litter on our trains, you are very welcome to eat and drink.
