Where does it go to?
We operate from Aquarium Station (3minute walk from the Palace Pier)
Briefly stopping midway, at Halfway Station, next to Jungle Rumble Adventure Golf and Café.
to Black Rock Station (5–7-minute walk from Brighton Marina)
How long does a journey take?
A Halfway Journey – approximately 5minutes
A Full Route Single (Aquarium Station to Black Rock Station) – approximately 12-minutes
A Full Route Return Journey – please allow up to 30 minutes.
Can I split my journey?
Yes. You are more than welcome to break up your journey at any of our Stations , Aquarium, Halfway or Black Rock Station and reboard on a later train.
Make sure to keep hold of your ticket to show the cashier/driver on your return.
I have a return ticket, can I stay on the train and come straight back?
You are more than welcome to come straight back; however, everyone must disembark the train at Aquarium Station or Black Rock Station, exit the platform and re-join the queue.
This is so your driver can turn around the train safely.
Do you run every day of the week?
We are open from Brighton and Hove City Council’s School Easter Holidays until 30th September.
During this time we are open 7 days a week.
Please be aware we make every effort to provide a service according to our standard operating procedure, but unforeseen circumstances, extreme weather, emergency track maintenance, may entail alteration or cancellations. The Volk’s Electric Railway reserves the right to alter or amend service at any time and without prior warning.
Can I buy my ticket in advance?
Currently we do not do advance or online bookings. Simply turn up to one of our stations and purchase a ticket when you want to ride.
Can we take food and drinks on the train?
Yes, as long as you’re tidy and don’t leave any litter on board, you are very welcome to eat and drink.
Can I smoke or vape?
No. No smoking or vaping is allowed on/in any of our stations or trains.
Lost property?
For lost items, please let one of our staff members know so they can check lost property, at Aquarium Station.

Can wheelchairs or mobility scooters fit on board?

Are the stations step free?
All our stations and platforms are step free, however there is a small gap between the train and the platform.
Pushchairs, bikes and dogs
Will my pushchair/pram fit on board?
All pushchairs and prams must be folded, before entering the station platform, and taken with you on your journey.
Due to the width and size of our car’s, unfolded pushchairs do not fit on our heritage trains, and you might be sharing the compartment with other passengers.
Can I bring my bike/scooter?
No, unfortunately due to the train size/capacity, bikes or scooters are not permitted on board.
Are dogs allowed on the train?
Yes, all dogs are welcome on Volk’s Electric Railway free of charge. All we ask is that they are always kept on a lead.

Do you offer NHS or Blue Light Card?
No, unfortunately we do not offer discount to NHS workers or Blue Light Card.
Do you offer student discount?
No, unfortunately we do not offer student discount.
Do you offer residents discount?
